American Exchange Program
Dear Jasper ISD friends and neighbors,
I am thrilled to share that this summer, Jasper High School will be participating in the American Exchange Project: a two-week, fully-funded adventure for Jasper High School students. During this exchange, a cohort of graduated high school seniors will spend one week discovering a new town and one week rediscovering Jasper alongside visiting students from across the nation.
A key component of the American Exchange Project adventure is the opportunity for students to stay with host families in the communities they travel to. This is your chance to join hundreds of other families across America who have formed lasting relationships with traveling students that continue long after the trip has ended.
Host families are responsible for:
- Providing a safe and secure place for students to sleep for eight days and seven nights
- Serving two meals a day (usually breakfast and dinner)
- Assisting with student transportation needs during Jasper’s Hometown Week
(Note: A stipend is available to help offset these costs.)
Host families are welcome to participate in some Hometown Week activities, but they are not expected to be with their host student(s) 24/7. The students visiting our town will spend much of the week exploring our community with our home students guiding them.
As Jasper’s Exchange Manager, I will be your main point of contact and will lead our Hometown Week over the summer. We’re proud to have the American Exchange Project in our town to help students grow as leaders and young adults and contribute to the organization’s mission of creating a more connected America.
If you’re interested in hosting, sign up now or learn more here.
