With the expiration of additional SNAP benefits on November 1, Jasper ISD, in partnership with Board Secretary Tracie Wolfford, the Southeast Texas Food Bank, the Hunger Free Community Coalition, our local food pantries, and Communities In Schools, is taking proactive steps to help bridge the gap for families in need.

Each Jasper ISD campus will host a food drive to help supplement local food banks and pantries that are seeing increased demand due to the benefit changes.

Individuals, businesses, or organizations interested in adopting or sponsoring a family identified by our counselors and Communities In Schools site coordinators are encouraged to reach out to:

Listed also are our local food pantries and their operating times.

Together, we can ensure that no Jasper ISD family goes without during this transition period.

Getting it right is a really, really GOOD THING, and our District PEIMS Dream Team gets it right!

PEIMS stands for the Public Education Information Management System, and the data collected through it is the framework on which the school runs. The PEIMS Team touches every component of the district:
- Student Data including demographics, attendance, academic performance, enrollment, and special programs information

- All staff data

- Financial data such as budget and financial information for the district

- Organizational data surrounding the structure of the school (who teaches what….in what department does any particular person work…who is responsible for what…and the list goes on)

This data is used to establish the state and federal funding to which the district is entitled, plays a big role in Accountability, and is a driver of both local and state-level policy decisions.

Basically, the PEIMS team keeps track of every student and staff member in order for the school to be able to provide lunch and breakfast to the students, provide transportation, ensure students have access to a free, appropriate public education, pay the light, fuel, and water bills, pay staff salaries, maintain district facilities, purchase materials, and again, the list could go on and on and on.

We appreciate our PEIMS Dream Team:
District PEIMS Coordinator-Jennifer Rohde
Campus PEIMS Clerks:
- High School - Jakeena Adams and Jeannette Koehn

- Jr. High - Catherine Wilgus

- Parnell- Blanca Vargas and Maricela Lopez

- Few- Stacy Beauchamp and Jessica Letney

The following provide essential support to the PIEMS Team:
- Cecilia Root (Human Resources)

- Sarah Mendoza (Special Education and 504)

- Estela Arriaga for (Emergent Bilingual)

Getting it right is a GOOD THING, and this team gets it right!

- Rodney Armstrong is this week’s recipient of the DuGood Cares award. For four years now, Rodney has supported and worked alongside Mr. Kent Jackson to keep things right at JHS. He is always on time and ready to serve with a positive attitude. He has also been a great mentor to his peers to teach them how to serve JHS better. Thank you for giving of your time and effort to make lunch time at JHS better Rodney!

- JHS Culinary Arts students were recently gifted a hydroponic lab that allows them to grow their own food. Produce harvested from the lab will be used to help feed JISD students in the cafeteria. Kim Dean, JISD Director of Child Nutrition, picked up the first batch of produce grown by our students. The next growing cycle will include cherry tomatoes, green onions, parsley, and additional herbs that will be used to prepare meals for JISD students. This lab gives students hands-on experience with alternative methods of food production, an understanding of where food comes from, and valuable nutritional knowledge. It also provides meaningful benefits to the students we serve across JISD.

- TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) group at JHS provided face painting for the Head Start Fall Fest

- JHS Band had a great marching season and made JHS proud

- From Instructional Coach Shana Hearnsberger: I would like to brag on Celeste Atmar. She does a great job with her world history and world geography students. She consistently provides engaging interactive lessons that challenge students to think at higher levels

- The Jasper Junior High Spotlight Night was a huge success

- The National Junior Honor Society induction was a great time for students and parents

- Parnell students had fun and pledged to be Drug Free during Red Ribbon Week
