Give a Gift Give a Gift is sponsored by the Jasper Public Schools Foundation. It is a program that connects classroom needs and projects with those who want to support students and teachers involved in public education. Individuals or corporations can select a specific project to support, or they can make a general donation to the foundation for Give a Gift. In either case, 100% of their tax-free contribution supports a project. There are no administration fees.
How It
Works Give a Gift begins with a teacher who wants to provide his or her students with an activity the school budget cannot cover because of lack of funds. The teacher completes a simple application that describes the activity and lists the materials necessary. After obtaining the principal’s approval, the application is submitted to the foundation.
On the main menu of the Jasper ISD web site and again on the JPS Foundation page of the Jasper ISD web site there is a link to the Give a Gift page. This is where the applications are posted by campus, subject matter and amount. Civic minded individuals can browse the teachers’ submissions. A tax-deductible contribution that fully or partially funds a chosen proposal is then made by contacting Tas McGraw at tmcgraw@jasperisd.net or by sending a check directly to Jasper Public Schools Foundation, Give a Gift, PO Box 2243, Jasper, TX 75951. If the donation is for a specific project, specify the project title and teacher’s name. When the donation is received, JPS Foundation sends a letter of acknowledgement that also serves as documentation for tax purposes. 100% of the funds contributed directly fund the project selected by the donor. 100% of the funds contributed are tax deductible. When a proposal is funded, JPS Foundation informs the teacher and principal of the donation and provides authorization for the purchases. Upon receiving and/or utilizing the materials, the teacher will send the gift giver a thank you note, digital photos of students using those materials along with student thank-you notes. Give a Gift provides a way for citizens to support creative and innovative teachers who desire to or motivated teachers to provide for their students’ needs with the help of the citizenship they serve.
